Colorado Water Law for Non-Lawyers
by Andrew P. Jones and Tom Cech, 2009
This book was donated by Roger Faaborg.
This is an interesting book. It starts out describing the rivers and underground water of Colorado. Next it traces the history of water law in Colorado. The gold rush of 1859 had a big effect on Colorado adopting laws similar to California. If you are the first one to have a good use for the water, you have the right to use it.
The water in a river that we see is only part of the water flowing beneath a river. The book covers the conflicts of drilling water wells which may or may not affect river flow. It is a very well written book with a lot of good information.
